Full Moon

February 1st: 13th degree Leo

Leo

Some people call it the Snow Moon. Others say it’s the Leo Moon. Both of them are correct. Whatever you choose, this lunation occurs a month or two before the March equinox and is an indicator of the changing seasons. It’s when all of us animals start to notice the mornings are different and begin an unconscious shift into our next phase. Bears are slowly stirring around in their dens. Birds are using the extra moonlight to direct them to the next spot on their migratory path. Even us humans have natural cycles that we go through every year. My part of the world is gaining daylight and everyone is itching to shed their winter coats. Green thumbs or outdoor enthusiasts should check their gear and garden beds for any weather damage and/or critter infestations. Take note the aforementioned damaged gardens and critter infestations can be used as metaphors for other issues you’ve got going on. Also take a look at what trees need pruning and how you’re going to fit their trimming into your schedule. The next Full Moon is going to stimulate more action and what you do today can significantly influence what you’re doing in a month. If your current behavior is out of line and dysfunctional then you can expect results that are out of line and dysfunctional. Part of the issue is that Leo is a fire sign and they always instigate a few things. Positive adjectives like inspiration, courage, and determination are all used to describe them. So are rash behavior, hasty decisions, and highly irritable demeanors. You’ll have to identify which emotion is which and handle them in a responsible manner.

There’s also an Aquarius effect to this alignment. The fixed air sign is an intellectual element which stimulates thought and expansion into the future. Inspiration can strike from anywhere at any time, and the only problem is when you don’t direct it into something positive. Even a homeless crackhead can show a glimmer of brilliance every now and again. During this phase your imagination is your greatest ally. What’s important is that you observe and learn from people or places outside your normal culture. Our natural environment will also provide spiritual enlightenment and can be considered an outside culture. Remember that fighting against the tides or other forces like gravity never turns out well. It’s like pushing logs upstream. The river will always win. Along with being innovative, Aquarius is also extremely rebellious and hates any restrictions or boundaries that you didn’t set for yourself. Trouble comes around  when people get emotionally overcharged and don’t realize the consequences of their actions. As reality sets in, the repercussions require time or resources which could be better directed somewhere else. For example, say you get a $135 dollar ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. Now you have to take money from your entertainment fund or elsewhere and spend it on the fine. Situations can also be similar to thinking you need an expensive dinner or good time Wednesday night. Then Saturday rolls around and you have nothing for the weekend. Be cautious in everything you do and the Virgo Full Moon will fare much better.

New Moon

February 17th: 28th degree Aquarius

Aquarius

Everyone responds to the New Moon in their own individual ways. As the fixed air sign, the Aquarius version will stimulate your mind and desire to break free from restricting boundaries. You’re not going to sit around idly and watch your enemies win. Oppressors can kiss your @$$ and house placement becomes important because it shows where you’re needing the most change or innovation. While this phase progresses, your dreams and goals become more intellectual and group orientated. This is the sign of the scientist. Whether your laboratory is an art studio, recording booth, or woodshop now is the time to develop your craft. For some, this will be an aggravating period where you can’t get your thoughts straight and don’t know the difference between your butthole and a Pop Tart. For others, this will be a wonderful time where you have wonderful thoughts, and accomplish wonderful things. This is because inspiration will come at the most random of times from the most random of sources. If you strike while the iron is hot you can forge a legitimate project. When you don’t, you’ll be back to phase one trying to heat things up again. In fact, if you pass on the opportunities you‘re thinking of now you might miss out altogether. Also, your aptitude doesn’t always determine your altitude. Your hard work and determination is much more important than how much you know. If you lose faith in yourself look at famous Aquarian inventor Thomas Edison. When he was a child his parents received a note from school saying something of this sort.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Edison,

Your son Thomas is no longer going to be allowed in class. He doesn’t seem capable of keeping up with the other children and we feel he may have some type of learning disability. Please do not bring him to school anymore.

Sincerely,

Whomever the principal was
