Full Moon

May 1st: 11th degree Scorpio

Every Full Moon can be extremely emotional but great healing can only occur after a great pain has traumatized you. Scorpio’s ultimate goal is massive transformation and regeneration. It’s the epitome of intensity and infatuation with most astrologers referencing the phoenix rising from ashes. My favorite example of this metamorphosis can be seen by the blooms and blossoms of the flowers up in the northern hemisphere. Three months ago the bare branches were limp and looked almost completely lifeless. Now, the vibrant vines are proving their resiliency and ability to survive the harsh conditions of winter. Birds are chirping, bunnies are bouncing, and all sorts of critters and crawlers are emerging from their yearly hibernation. Although we might not realize it, humans are going through this process as well. The difference in light is beginning to make an impact on our energy levels and our bodies are responding. I know I definitely start waking up earlier and going to bed later. Your individual development may be slow, but in three months you’ll look back and see the world in a different light. You’ll really notice the development if you stay focused and keep your pace steady. Try to be more like the consistent tortoise rather than the sporadic hare. Just make sure not to get so intently focused on the enemy in front of you that you don’t see a different opponent attacking from the side. Stray shrapnel can also be dangerous or deadly when you linger around watching your grenade explode.

This lunar event is a call to embrace vulnerability, shed old skins, and spiritually renew yourself. It illuminates hidden emotions and truths, urging us to confront and release what no longer serves us. You might have to learn how mistakes and decisions from the past, even ones made long ago, can come back to haunt you. Engaging in introspective practices like journaling, meditation, or therapy can be particularly beneficial now. By facing your inner shadows you can unlock powerful transitions allowing you to get in closer touch with your authentic self. This alignment also encourages us to examine our power dynamics, and emotional boundaries. It's a time to take or release control, trust the process, and allow for significant inner healing. Scorpio is the fixed water sign and is deeply rooted in both your unconscious and subconscious mind. Pay special attention to your dreams and intuitive feelings. Scorpio communicates in psychological ways the other signs just can’t. Don’t be concerned with things on the surface level alone. Become obsessed about an important topic and dig deeper to find out anything and everything about it. Scorpio knows that something doesn’t get done by not working on it. Forget steps one, two, or three. Get into a project where phases four and five are almost done with, and levels six, seven, and eight are staring you down. Bowser’s castle is in sight and the princess is nearly saved.

New Moon

May 17th: 25th degree Taurus

We all know how slow and steady wins the race. What’s best, even when you’re not victorious, slow and steady still gets things done. Remember, the marathoner finishing last has accomplished a major achievement. The Taurus New Moon is the epitome of this philosophy. Picture yourself running miles eight thru twenty of your twenty-six mile endeavor. You know there’s a finish line ahead but it’s not quite in sight. Situations are getting tough and you might want to quit. Now is when you gotta bear down and grunt things out for a little while longer. If you have to take a break and eat, drink, or go to the bathroom then do it. Just make sure not to fuddle around and get distracted on some side quest. There’s a direct connection between how much gets done and how much you stay focused or on task. It’s also important to remember that it doesn’t matter how fast you get something completed. Pay special attention to not only how efficient your process is, but how quality the results are as well. My best suggestion is to analyze what you do to make money on an individual level. Taurus recognizes how material possessions provide structure and stability better than any sign. Contemplate how current and future investments are panning out and where they might go in the future. Then, try to set reasonable goals that are within your capabilities and resources. Along with your final desire, think about all the tools and assets required to get by. It’s a great time to make a major purchase if you diligently investigate what you need and how it will benefit you. When issues do arise don’t get too down on yourself. Sometimes problems build up and get repetitive and you’re probably going to yell, “God D@^^it!” “Same $#!%, same $#!% different f*(&ing day!!!” more than one or two times.

The fixed Earth sign of Taurus is very connected to nature and our physical senses. For a few days you can relate to music, art, and nature in ways you normally can’t. Inner reflection is the basic purpose of every New Moon and I always say to get away. Get away from people and problems you have no control over. Get away from noise pollution and psychological stress it causes. Get away from the congestion of everyday life and get back in touch with the dirt we’re made of. Although Venus is the ruling planet, Luna does quite well in this sign. Her placement here allows you to connect on more emotional levels and show others your caring and nurturing side. Sometimes the momma bear instincts we all possess might make you seem overbearing and protective, but deep down your intentions were meant for the best. Venus is also the planet dedicated to relationships and understands how our associations with others provide both emotional and financial security. Sometimes materialism is a necessity but over consumption is a big problem for this alignment. My best metaphor is for anyone who’s ever had a massive hangover. Too much alcohol can be felt on a very physical and spiritual level. Lord knows how many prayers I’ve said to the porcelain God. Another issue can be when you go into a hypnotic trance and enter a state of mind I call insom-nom-nom-nomnia. That’s when you get up in the middle of the night and eat every snack that doesn’t take more than 1 minute to microwave. The next morning comes around and you wake up wondering why your pizza is gone and the kitchen is destroyed.
