In order to understand the magnitude of the Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto conjunction you need to analyze each planet on an individual level before trying to combine the three. To start off here’s a little history. Back in 1980 Jupiter conjoined Saturn in the 8th degree of Libra with Pluto slightly ahead in the 23rd. In October of 1981, after a little retrograde, Jupiter eventually transited Pluto in Libra’s 24th degree with Saturn trailing behind in the 15th. This was a time when the cold war was beginning its final stages and communist facism was supposedly being destroyed. Almost 20 years ago the conjunction of the giant duo occurred in the 22th degree of Taurus back in May of 2000 with the unrest in the Middle East and world terrorism reaching a pinnicle on September 11th of 2001. At this time Pluto was somewhat opposing them in the 15th degree of Sagittarius. Now in early 2020 Saturn and Pluto met in the 22nd degree of Capricorn with Jupiter approaching in the 9th. Progress ahead to the middle of March when the Covid-19 pandemic exploded and you’ll find Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto aligned within 8 degrees of each other. On March 18th the Moon added her influences and the sellium definitely produced some catastrophic events and everyone was affected in their own individual way. In order to get an idea of how this alignment might unfold the natal chart must be evaluated and several things considered. House placement and aspects with other planets will sway the energies in several different ways. This is not a little ticky-tac alignment and will display itself through several circumstances over the span of possibly a year. As the Sun, Moon, and other planets progress, their transits will trigger multiple incidents and there won’t be a solitary event you can point your finger at and say “That’s it! That’s what I’m looking for.” Instead you’ll need to take a step back and observe things from a different perspective with maybe a little advice from someone else. Eventually the universe will reveal what you are seeking.
Pluto wasn’t discovered until the 1930’s and astrologers are still learning just how powerful this little guy truly is. Have you ever met someone 5’4” and can whoop the shit out of anyone? That’s Pluto. Don’t fuck with him.The effects of our distant buddy are still somewhat unknown, but it is known that Pluto will intensify your psychological turmoil until the pressure is much too handle and something has to erupt. Pluto is a lot like a mathematical exponent. It will multiply the number to extreme measures but when the number is 0 or 1 not much happens. I consider Pluto like a cup of gasoline. Once it’s thrown onto the metaphorical fire that is your life the flames erupt uncontrollably, but only for a while. Once the extra fuel has expired the ruins left behind are a glimmer of what they once were. All too often these emotional explosions are directed at an unsuspecting subject which causes more catastrophes than you can shake a stick at. Sometimes we suppress these negative feelings and cover them with addictions and obsessions or some other vice which provides a comfortable distraction. Food is another cover for emotional anxiety. When drugs and alcohol are used in response to these problems there are significant consequences to your habitual reactions. As a recovering alcoholic and drug addict I know exactly how the inappropriate behavior leads to a downward spiral. The forces of Pluto allow you to rebound from adversity by creating something wonderfully new in its place. Whatever your personal poison is, you’ll never be fully defeated with the aid of our distant little buddy. One philosophy I’ve developed with Pluto is that he rarely works all by himself. When left alone Pluto has no desire to interfere with your personal matters but when it does, good Lord are you left with some repercussions.
Saturn is a bastard. He’s the restrictive force that demands we act reasonable and responsibly whether we like it or not. He’s the shitty vegetables your parents force down your throat because you need your vitamins. It’s best to just pour ranch or cheese sauce all over your hated dinner and scarf it down the best you can. At the end of the day his lessons make you a stronger and more independent person. When you get complacent with your resources or lost in your carelessness Well, this is the planet that gets you out of the clouds and brings you back down to Earth. Ever hear the phrase “Best act right or you’ll get smacked right.”? Well, Saturn is the hard hand of the lay bringing down the slap. Once the initial surprise and pain is gone the alarming wake up call us usually productive. Saturn may be the Lord of Karma but we can reshape our fate by behaving in certain ways. Remember, not all karma is bad and this planet can reward just as much as it can take away. There’s an old child’s tale about an irresponsible grasshopper who spends the summer casually passing by. Meanwhile, the hard working ants around him are preparing for the winter months ahead. Once the cold sets in the negligent grasshopper doesn’t have enough resources to get through and becomes very desperate. Fortunately the gracious ants helped their bugger neighbor and hopefully the grasshopper’s next summer was spent differently. Between the three planets discussed Saturn is the most powerful in the sign of Capricorn. This is his comfort zone and it’s like having the home field advantage in sports. His actions are always cold and calculated with the intention of teaching you effectiveness, efficiency, and responsibility. Very similar to a stern father figure. When your ass is getting out of line these forces smack you upside the head in an attempt to bring you back down to Earth. His ways are rigid and difficult to be happy with. At the end of the lesson the organization and rational foresight provided is beyond valuable. You just have to figure out how to use it. Generally speaking these lessons are unpleasant and difficult to accept. Many times you have to learn how to compensate with the loss of resources or people you consistently rely on. It’s like you’re expected to do twice as much work with only half the tools needed. The restrictions you’re faced with allow you to discover how innovative and ingenious your brain can truly be. Remember necessity is the mother of all invention. Saturn also symbolizes governments and the structure we develop as a society. Court systems or any other controlling authorities are under the reign of this planet as well.
Ask any astrologer for some popular cliche adjectives to describe Jupiter and they’ll say optimism, expansion, and philosophy. This jolly giant is known as the greater benefic and, although it’s very rare for Jupiter to produce something bad, when these energies are incorporated into a shitshow then the chaos gets worse. Just because you paint a Volkswagen all fancy doesn’t turn it into a BMW. In the metaphorical math equation that is this conjunction Jupiter would be the multiplying factor. I think the equation might look something like this (SA+TUxRN)=your life. Jupiter is the X factor and Pluto is adding an exponent outside the parentheses. What Jupiter also provides is physical and spiritual healing with the ability to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This can be through the vaccine, the economy opening up, or it can be actual recovery from the disease. If you’re down and out a dose of Jupiter is the shot in the arm you need for a pick me up. This planet is the spiritual gargantuan of our solar system who’s meant to inspire our souls when we’re trapped in the deepest pits of despair. Nothing can keep Jupiter down for long but there will be difficult obstacles along the way.
Now to put this all together. Because Saturn is the ruler of this sign his structure will be the foundation Jupiter and Pluto are building on. My first example will be the government restrictions mandated upon the masses. The need and effectiveness of masks against covid has been in hot debate since day one. I live in Washington State here in the USA and our governor has been restricting our rights for longer than most.
Restaurants are being told when they can and can’t be open. Their hours are being regulated and you’re not allowed to sit at the rail. It’s ok to eat inside a tent that’s outside the main building but it’s not ok to eat in the actual restaurant. An establishment can be open with 25% capacity provided they open all the windows because for some reason the draft is able to deter this disease that can infect you from 6 feet away. Some employees have to take mandatory temperature tests before their shifts and everyone has to wear a mask unless they’re actively eating or drinking. Some places were even required to sanitize the pen used for the signature for credit card purchases after each use. As someone with 10 years experience working in restaurants I can only imagine how expensive and difficult these protocols cost. Many businesses in my area will be closing down for good. Their doors will never open again.
Schools here were canceled in mid March and still haven’t completely reopened almost a year later. Classes are now being held online and only slowly going back to live in-class sessions. Parents have had to restructure their entire schedule in order to meet these excessive demands and some even quit their jobs. This would be the properties of Saturn(Schools, government, and schedules), being multiplied by Jupiter, then the added exponent of Pluto making it explode. Because schools were forced into distance learning the district in my area is developing a system to eliminate snow days. Yup, no more snow days. Poor kids have to take a couple hours out of their playtime and do some class work when the weather gets bad. Now they won’t have to make things up in June when it’s actually nice out.
On a personal level the cancelation of sports has impacted me the most. As a youth, playing baseball was one of the few things that brought me happiness. From T-ball through my final year as a high school freshman I can remember bits and pieces of every season. These days I’m watching kids see their limited years of athletics dwindle before their eyes. Most of them won’t participate past the sixth grade and even fewer will play all the way through high school. My heart goes out to all those children who will never get these opportunities back. As for myself, I watch a lot of athletics on television and their stoppage in March of 2020 definitely hit me in the gut. Closed bars and entertainment I can handle, but I need me some good Sportscenter and games to watch. I could probably write another three pages about the restrictions the players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and all the other professional leagues out there have gone through. Sometimes these athletes were subjected to three tests a day and were placed in significant controlled quarantine AKA the NBA bubble. Furthermore, these highly paid professionals were held out of games for multiple days for simply being around someone who tested positive.
The final chapter in our saga of drama is how we recuperate from the damages this pandemic has caused. Jupiter and Pluto will play a larger role in this course of action than Saturn, and hopefully the world can regain whatever sense of normalcy it had to begin with. Some individuals have been much more significantly impacted than others and their process of healing will definitely take longer than others. This disease has taken the lives and livelihoods of millions, if not billions of people. Unless you live in the isolated wilderness your life has been affected by covid. I feel the true restoration won’t be felt until Jupiter has progressed into Pisces in May of 2021 with Saturn to follow in 2023. Pluto will remain in Capricorn for a few more years and will slowly work its way out of the equation. I’m very curious as to that planets transit through Aquarius. We have to realize that although it felt this disease came crashing down on us in an instant the road to recovery has ups and downs as well. Some feel the vaccine is the answer. Others feel this is a government conspiracy and we can simply go back to normal. No matter what side you’re on everyone can agree that a peaceful resolution is what’s best. As for myself, I’ll just keep on keepin’ on. Covid can kiss my ass.
